Photo Album: Costa Mesa, CA PolyLEVEL™ for Concrete Repair
In Costa Mesa, California, Saber Foundations was contracted to repair a structure with concrete settlement issues, causing gaps in exterior walls and cracks in sidewalks and uneven walkways, which pose trip hazards. This type of settlement is usually caused by the combined weight of concrete and what supports it. The soil beneath the concrete compresses and can cause major problems. As noticed by the homeowner, cracks had formed in her walkways, and also the concrete had shifted and become un-level, making it dangerous to walk if you're not careful. The sinking had also caused large gaps to form at the wall connections on her front porch. Luckily the problem can be resolved quite quickly and affordably using PolyLEVEL™, which is a two-part foam used to inject into the ground to form a fill that is strong yet light weight (only 4 lbs per cub is ft, compared to 120 lbs per cubic ft. for standard fill materials.) PolyLEVEL™ is also waterproof. It will not wash away, and it also does not react with soil or moisture; therefore, no harmful chemicals will be leaked into the soil. PolyLEVEL™ cures very quickly, and is adjustable. By adjusting the density and expansive force of the two-part foam , you can allow for a wide range of uses. The lifting force can be adjusted by fine tuning the chemical reaction that causes the foam to expand. Saber’s experienced applicator of PolyLEVEL™ can factor the weight of the structure as well as the soil characteristics, temperature and weather conditions. Confined areas are easily accessed as the equipment used for PolyLEVEL™ injection is not bulky. Also, PolyLEVEL™ is less messy and disruptive than other slab and foundation-lifting techniques.
During this process one small hole was cored into the concrete where the PolyLEVEL™ material was injected. Once the process was complete this Costa Mesa homeowner will notice that the concrete that was once un-level will now be level and any gaps that had been opened are now closed. The small hole that was cored for the process was filled and will no longer be noticeable.
