Foundation Repair - Poway
Challenge
This resident of Poway, Ca could see various signs of foundation settlement around their home. Outside of the home, the homeowner had noticed several cracks forming in the stucco. The homeowner also noticed that many of the doors and windows were showing signs of settlement, they had become hard to open and close and cracks were forming around the frames. Slab settlement had also occurred in the concrete floor, resulting in large cracks and even chunks separated from the slab completely. The homeowner wanted to attempt to close all the cracks and solve the settlement issues.
Solution
Saber Geotechnical Construction Solutions installed Push Piers around the outside perimeter of the home. Push Piers are made of steel and are driven deep into a stable layer of soil. They can be installed from the interior or exterior of home and provide and opportunity to lift the home back toward its original position. In most case this process closes cracks and improves the operation of doors and windows, however for this home their was some additional crack repair that needed to be completed once the lift was done. Push Piers permanently stabilize the home and have a quick installation time compared to other solutions. The homeowner can now see the effects that this process had on the fixing of the settlement issue, the doors and windows now open with ease and the cracks have closed and been repaired.
