Challenge

Brent, a homeowner in Oceanside, Ca. lives in a one story 2,169 sq. ft. 3 - bedroom home built in 1966. Over the past 4 years of owning the home, he noticed sloping floors, cracked concrete outside his home, and floors opening at cracks. The problems were getting worse, so he contacted Saber to find a permanent solution

Saber’s experienced Project Design Specialist, upon inspecting the home’s foundation, found that the rear right side of the home had sunk significantly, causing the problems the homeowner was seeing. Upon hearing the homeowner’s concerns and answering any questions he had, it was determined that a series of 288 Standard Helical Piers (9) and 288 Low Profile Helical Piers (5) would be required to stabilize the home, preventing the further sinking of the foundation.

Solution

After Saber’s production crew’s arrival, each pier location was excavated, concrete removed, and each pier inserted. The 288 Standard and 288 Low Profile Helical Piers were selected due to their ability to be driven down into load bearing strata, past layers of unstable soil. Once In place, the weight of the home was then transferred from the unstable layers to competent soil and bedrock, stabilizing the home from further settlement. The piers came with a 25-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Upon replacing the concrete at each pier location, the homeowner was able to tour the newly cleaned job site with the foreman. He expressed his pleasure at finding a permanent solution to his home’s foundation problems.
