In San Clemente, California, Saber Foundations was contracted to repair the foundation of a home with severe settlement issues.  This was causing cracks in the slab, and in the interior and exterior walls, as well as windows and doors sticking.  Being concerned with the continued damage and any new damage that may be caused, the homeowner, did some research and found Saber to be the company to contract to repair their foundation issues.  This type of settling is caused by a shift in the supporting soils, which is mostly due to the high heat of California, causing the clay soils to contract. This home was going to be remodeled so the majority of the piers were placed in the interior, at the request of the homeowner.   With the push piers, by Foundation Supportworks, Inc, installation is easy and the effects are immediate.  Push piers are easily driven into the ground beneath the home until they hit hard solid supporting soils.  Brackets are attached to the foundation footing to drive the piers in at the right angel and to transfer the lifting from the pier to the homes foundation.     Due to the severity of the settlement of this properties foundation 5 helical piers were added to the exterior of the property to obtain maximum stability of the structure.  A helical pier is another steel piering system.  The first section that is advanced into the ground has one or more helix shaped blades welded to the shaft.  Additional extensions are then used to extend the pier to the proper depth.  Helical piers can be added to the interior or exterior, and provide an opportunity to lift the home back towards its original position.   During the installation, push piers were installed to insure the best results for the lift and future support of the home. These piers was together to transfer the weight of the structure to the strong soils or bedrock below.  After installation, the homeowner will notice that the signs of the soil shifting will no longer be an issue.  The cracks will have closed, and the doors and windows will now close properly.
