Foundation Repair Photo Album: The Missions at Rio Vista Apartment Buildings
In San Diego, California Saber was contracted to fix the foundation of several apartment complexes that had severe settlement issues. The building were being renovated and during the process they found that the foundation settlement that had occurred needed to be corrected before any of the other renovation could take place. Saber was contracted to raise the foundation using resistance piers. This process was a lot of work as the buildings are large and the settlement was so sever. The crews worked very hard to expose the footings of these buildings in order to attach the brackets and drive the piers.
With the push piers, by Foundation Supportworks, Inc, installation is easy and the effects are immediate. Push piers are easily driven into the ground beneath the home until they hit hard solid supporting soils. Brackets are attached to the foundation footing to drive the piers in at the right angel and to transfer the lifting from the pier to the homes foundation.
During the installation, 25 interior piers and 15 exterior, push piers were installed to insure the best results for the lift and future support of the structures. These piers was together to transfer the weight of the structure to the strong soils or bedrock below. After the installation and the lift was preformed the building had been raised and the signs of the severe settlement had been corrected.
Piers in place and hoses attached ready for the lift.
Soils were removed from the area of were the piers were placed. A heavy duty steel bracket was installed below and against the foundation's footing. Steel pier sections were then hydraulically driven through the brackets to bedrock, or a stable soil layer. Next, the weight of the structure will be transferred through the piers to competent soil below, and the lift will be attempted to bring the structure back toward its original position. Once the stabilization and lift of the structure are complete, the soil will be backfilled and the structure will be permanently stabilized in its new position.

This is will remain as a permanent fixture at the foundation's footing, once the job is complete, it will be covered with the soil that is used to back fill the exposed locations.
