Commercial Office/Maintenance Building Floor Sinking in Santa Barbara, Ca.
In Santa Barbara, Ca. an older maintenance building was renovated into a suite of offices. The concrete slab floor was found to be sloping inward from the center of the structure. The area used to be an open parking lot for large utility trucks, and the weight over time had caused the slab to sink. Cracks in the office walls had appeared after the renovation along with other symptoms of foundation settlement.
After Saber's inspection, PolyLevel expanding polyurethane foam was found to be the most effective and permanent solution. The waterproof foam would not only provide soil stabilization but also allow for the slab to be raised to level without any expensive removal and replacement of concrete. Before the application of the PolyLevel, the office staff had the carpets, desks, and other furniture removed from the project area.
200 lbs. of PolyLevel foam was injected into ports 5/8" in diameter, equally spaced throughout the sinking area of the slab; along the Southern and Northern sides of the building, 25 ft. down each wall. The owner of the business was able to see their floor slab raise to level and was quite impressed with PolyLevel and the ease and inconspicuousness of the application (each port was sealed with a small concrete patch). Everything was able to be replaced within the offices, cracks in walls had closed. The job only took one day, and no one could tell that any form of construction had occurred.

EARTHQUAKE RETROFITTING IN SANTA BARBARA
Duplex owner Pauline P. wanted her duplex made earthquake safe. Project Design Specialist Evan B. assessed the crawlspace, which had a limited vertical clearance. Because of that, he recommended using Universal Foundation Plates around the perimeter of the crawlspace walls. The plates allow the cripple wall to be anchored to the foundation from the side. Pauline was impressed with Evan. She writes, "Evan was very knowledgeable about earthquake retrofitting. He did a thorough job inspecting the existing foundation and tie-ins, complete with pictures. His explanation of what was entailed was clear. He was easy to talk to and could answer all my questions. I had checked out Saber and relative costs of such a project, so felt that he offered a good solution to my needs at a reasonable price." California is known for earthquake activity, so being proactive can save homeowners money in the long run. Since every home is different, part of WOW! service it to suggest the right products in order to provide the very best solution for each homeowner.
Concrete Walkway Leveled in Santa Barbara
A homeowner called local concrete repair contractors in the Santa Barbara area because they were concerned about the safety of the concrete around their home. The concrete slabs in their walkway had dropped in some areas, leading to many trip hazards.
Our design specialist, Jason, showed the homeowner all of their options to fix the walkway and restore the safety of their home. Not only did Jason quote the fix of exactly what the homeowner called about, he also gave the homeowner the option to protect other concrete slabs that might drop or become uneven in the future. Because of this level of service, the homeowner decided to go with Saber for their concrete repair project.
Saber's concrete repair team, headed up by foreman Alvino, restored the homeowner's peace of mind by leveling the concrete slabs - some of which had dropped 2 inches or more. With the elimination of trip hazards, the curb appeal increased for the home.
Cleanspace Encapsulation For Crawl Space in Santa Barbara, CA
Homeowner Matthew C. was in need of our Cleanspace service for his late 1960's home in Santa Barbara. Matthew didn't know he had an issue till he had his home termite inspected in 2017. The inspector evaluated that he did have an infestation and it was because of his humid crawl space. After Mathew killed the existing termite infestation, he reached out to Saber to evaluate his property to come up with a solution for his home. Our Project Design Specialists Jason S. found that humidity levels were extremely high at 76 percent and the wood moister was at 19.9 percent. There are very high levels of humidity and moisture that needed to be addressed. Not only to prevent future infestations but also to prevent other costly damages. Matthew understood and decided to move forward with our CleanSpace service. The installation was completed by our Production Forman Bryan A. and his crew. They removed all the debris and installed 1246 square feet of CleanSpace, vent sealing, a condensate pump, 2 customs fitted Everlast doors, an Aprilaire 1820 dehumidifier, a water capture basin, and a 52-foot water drainage line. Matthew was extremely pleased with the crew’s work ethic and quality. He now has the peace of mind that his home is safe from any larger issues his crawl space could have caused.
