Helical Piers and PolyLEVELâ„¢ for Apartment Complex in Agoura Hills
Saber Geotechnical Construction Solutions proposed to stabilize an apartment complex in Agoura Hills using the Helical Piers and PolyLEVEL™ system. PolyLEVEL™ is a two-part urethane that when combined, expands into a rigid foam used to fill voids, stabilize slabs and lift concrete. Once injected through small 5/8 inch drilled holes in the surface or slabs, a chemical reaction converts the liquid urethane components into a strong, rapidly setting, waterproof foam material.
In it’s foam state, PolyLEVEL™ is light weight, weighing two to six pounds per cubic-foot (pcf). Opposed to mud-jacking which can weigh upwards of 120 pcf, thus adding a significant burden to the supporting soils under the slab, and potentially contributing to further settlement issues. With a compressive strength of 10,800 pounds per square foot, PolyLEVEL™ has the strength to support the most demanding residential loads. For this job, Saber will use the polyurethane injection as a void fill once the helical pier system has been installed and the structure has been lifted in order to prevent any future settling.
